• Upgrading from maX.500 version 2.0 to version 2.0.1 •
Users of maX.500 version 2.0 should upgrade to version 2.0.1 at their convenience. A description of the significant changes made in the new version is available in the maX.500 2.0.1 online help Introduction section under the topic "What's New." There are many improvements that make maX.500 more satisfying to use than ever before.
Upgrading is easy: just replace the maX.500 2.0 application with maX.500 2.0.1. If you are affiliated with the University of Michigan and have not yet installed the Authentication Manager (AuthMan) control panel version 1.0.7, you may want to do so. Please refer to the README file or the maX.500 2.0.1 online help for detailed instructions on installing AuthMan.
If maX.500 2.0.1 has trouble talking to the LDAP server you have configured in the maX.500 Preferences window, you may need to contact the people who administer the server and ask them to upgrade their software. If you have not changed the LDAP server setting yourself you should not have any problems, as the default LDAP servers (ds.internic.net and ldap.itd.umich.edu) are known to be compatible with maX.500 2.0.1. maX.500 2.0.1 requires version 3.0 or later of the University of Michigan developed LDAP server (ldapd).
